Drawing inspiration from the sacred volcanic lake Atitlan he calls home in the Mayan highlands of Guatemala, Mixwell weaves his sound from a rich tapestry of cultural influence that invokes the spirits of our ancestral lands while igniting the dancefloor.

"Espíritu de Fuego" explores some of the traditional sounds and textures that have most inspired Mixwell's musical journey - the Afro-Brazilian Berimbau and Cuica on "rebelião", the chilling sound of Colombia's native Gaita flutes on the title track, and the tribal chants on "vudu", all seem to evoke a fiery spirit, a wildly infectious energy that summon the body into ecstatic movement.
